One of the most amazing qualities about GSDs is their devotion to their owners and, Monte, this was one of your most highly treasured traits. Wherever I went, you were right there by my side, and I always had to be in your line of sight. You blessed me a hundred times over, and I'm so grateful you entered my life. As I think back on our years together, I have such happy memories of a dog who had a depth of devotion for which words cannot do justice. You loved to play and you brought such joy to me. Your face was always happy and, no matter what mood I was in, you could always make me smile. When I was sad or just having a bad day, there you would be, looking up at me with that happy face. I couldn't have gotten through some of the rough spots in life without you. Just hugging you gave me a sense of "everything will be okay". You were so vital in my life and I wish our time together could have been a lot longer. When I held you in my arms as you took your last breath, I whispered in your ear that you could relax now. You gave me so much and now you can rest. My life will always have an empty space that only you can fill, but I promise, when I meet you at the Rainbow Bridge, I will run so fast to you that it'll be the only time I will ever be able to outrun you. So long, my precious Monte, you will always have your home in my heart.
